Fabulous Sephora giveaway

Recently I stumbled across a new blog for me to read while I am supposed to be working.  Ironically,  the blogger is from Pennsylvania just like me!!

Well, yesterday was her 100th post, and in honor of that she is doing a giveaway.  Go here and enter for a chance to win the giveaway!!

Have fun!

We’ve spent months and months on end being interrupted by those annoying political commercials and receiving 32 pieces of political mail a day.  Save a tree!

And now it’s over.

Obama has made American history by becoming the first black president. Whoop-de-doo.  I certainly don’t feel special.

I don’t trust politicians, which makes it hard to vote, and so I don’t have anything to say about the election.

Tiger Woods should be president.

Ahh October. . .

I am kind of sad that October has come and gone already.  Of course, I am totally pumped for my parents to come out for Thanksgiving and Christmas season is always so warm and fuzzy.  But October seems to be MY month.

The weather is perfect for me.  I love sweater and hoody weather, but not yet big puffy warm coat weather.  I love the changing of the leaves, and a SLIGHT breeze that blows the leaves around.  None of this 100 mph hour Iowa wind that smacks leaves and twigs off the side of your face.

Halloween is always so much fun, too.  Who – besides my fiance – doesn’t like to dress up for Halloween?

Football Season.

And last but not least – the love of my life.  Zach and I met on October 1, 2005; we started dating on October 18, 2005; there were a lot of firsts for us in October :) ; then I moved here the first week in October 2007; he prosposed to be on October 10, 2007; and finally, we’re getting married on October 17, 2009!!

And let’s not forget..he gave me my iPhone when I moved here in October 2007 :)

So you see..lots of good things for me in October!

What to do?!?!

I’m struggling lately trying to find time to get to the gym.  Before I had the job I currently have, I was going every day.  The main reason I signed up for this gym membership was to attend the different aerobics classes that they offer.  I am much more of a class girl than a treadmill/elliptical girl.  Well, now that I don’t get off of work until 6 p.m., I can’t make it to any of the classes.  There are none that begin after 6.  Bummer.

Zach says that I just need to find a time in the day and go at that exact same time every day.  Well, it’s not that easy.  With my lunch hour being at a different time every day,  all the tv shows going on now, my mood, the weather…and just LIFE…there are so many things that get in the way.

Usually, by the time I get off of work I’m ready for dinner.  And Zach is too.  I want to be able to cook dinner for us each night.  So by the time we’re done and my food is digested it’s too late to go to the gym.  Once you sit down and have dinner, it’s just all over.

I could wake up extra early in the morning and go before work, you say.  I’ve tried that..it lasted, oh, about a week.  I like my sleep.  I don’t want to wake up any earlier than I have to.

So, now I am debating on whether or not I should look into cancelling my gym membership.  Right now at our apartment complex we have a little gym that would definitely suffice.  Within the coming months we will eventually move into our new house..there’s no gym there.  I guess I am afraid of not having a gym to go to, but it’s proving to be rather expensive, and I’m definitely not getting my money’s worth.  I have a bike, but winter is coming, so what do I do then?

My friend Melissa talks about workout DVDs on her blog that she likes to use at home.  I have one or two of those lying around somewhere.  That seems like a pretty good idea.

Pay it foward

I think that’s the phrase. It’s used to describe the situation when a total stranger shows you an unwarranted kindness- whether it be offering to help carry something heavy, giving you a dollar or two when you need it, or holding the door- that you, in return, “pay it foward” by showing the same kindess to a total stranger.

When I first started working at the grocery store that was my part-time job throughout high school and college, I was a bagger.  I bagged groceries.  Any new grocery store employee has to start there.  Anyway, one day this man handed me two dollars as I loaded his groceries into his cart.

“Well, I’m not allowed to accept this sir, but thank you.”  And I handed him back the bills.

And he says, “Where I come from, we tip people who do nice things for you.”  So I took the two dollars.

That happened seven years ago.

Today for lunch, I decided to try this place called Culver’s.  It’s a midwest thing, which is why I’m not familiar with it.  So I go through the drive through, they give me this little number, and tell me to pull ahead into one of the spots.  A couple minutes later a young man comes to my car window with my food.  I remember the man in the grocery store seven years ago, and I had the boy a dollar.  He takes it, looks at it, and looks at me like I’m crazy.

“For you,” I said.

“Well … uh .. I mean, hey, thanks.  I appreciate it.”

It’s strange how such a little gesture like that seems so shocking.  There you go.  Pay it forward.  :)

Guess what today is!!!?

The TWO HOUR season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy!!  Woot Woot!  Ah, I’ve been waiting for this day since the moment season four ended.  It was kind of a disappointing season, but I blame the writer’s strike.  They screwed up everything!  24 wasn’t even on at all!!  It will be a glorious glorious two hours tonight.  And then …

Tomorrow is my birthday!!!  And I have a fun filled evening planned and I cannot wait!  :)

Nothing

I want to post a blog entry right now, but I can’t think of what to write about quite yet.  I’m in the middle of a Friends marathon..via dvd.  :)

Video Music Awards

Congratulations to Britney Spears for taking home all three VMA’s that she was nominated for.  Is this Britany’s big comeback?  If there was a female Christ, it would be Britany Spears.

She has performed for the VMA’s on numerous and memorable occasions, but never took home a VMA.  This year she took home three:  best pop video, best female video, and video of the year.  I think she deserved it.  This was her year, she needed it.  I hope this is the comeback we’ve all been waiting for.

She looked great, and it was a pleasant surprise to see her do her thing tonight.  She walked great and only tripped over her words once when she opened the awards show.  But who wouldn’t trip over their words reading from a teleprompter in front of millions of people, right?  When she was reading “25th anniversary” she said “annversity.”  That’s not so bad.  Many others did the same type of things throughout the night.

For all the things she’s been through in the past few years, you would’ve never known.  She was beautiful and this was her night.  She was back to Britney that we all know and love.  Let’s hope she keeps herself back in order the way she was tonight.  Go Britney!!

Smokin’ Aces!

I joined a women’s indoor volleyball league and we are AWESOME!
